Lean Simulation…
Dave Mills, Project Manager, Definity Partners, is just a regular guy with a passion for lean manufacturing. He brings an impressive set of credentials and practical experience to bear on real-world opportunities for improvement. He may not know your product, but he knows your problems. He has solutions!
He stays positive … does the right thing ‘all the time’ … makes sure he knows the facts, and then sticks to the data . . . not only increased production, but increased their morale.![]()
The Lean Simulation is an intense experience involving both classroom learning and hands-on simulation practice of the principles learned.
Participants will gain new and effective insights after putting to use, first-hand, lean principles such as:
- Identifying and eliminating waste
- Implementing effective leadership to improve results
- Incorporating one-piece flow, takt time, work cells, standard work and 5S
- Reducing cycle and lead times
- Understanding the Kanban inventory system
- Differentiating between push and pull systems
Participants will also gain a better understanding of how lean grows the bottom line, enhances quality, delights the customer & solidifies job security.
Definity Partners has conducted hundreds of lean manufacturing simulations for a variety of businesses since 1999. Inspired by our partnership with BAE Systems, Definity Partners developed a fun and interactive simulation producing Lego jeeps. These jeeps, modeled after the up-armored military Humvees, have become a Definity Partners trademark.
Lean Implementation…
Learn how the principles of lean and the practical application of these principles throughout the organization have transformed GEMCITY.
Lean Tour…
Tour the plant at GEMCITY to see the operation in action!
Talk to the employees about the lean improvements they have implemented and continue to implement on a daily basis.
Ask the questions:
- What changes have you made and how did they help you do your job more effectively?
- Who initiates the changes—where do the ideas come from?
- How has this culture of lean excellence impacted you?
Feedback from others who’ve participated:
Stop talking and just do it! The Definity Partners Lean Manufacturing Simulation is the best to get people motivated and educated to take action. I have required all of my General Managers from around the world to participate. I want them to fully understand what it takes to get results fast. Now they can more effectively lead their people in our journey toward excellence.![]()
Gary Allen, President, Centigon, a Division of BAE Systems
I was fortunate enough to participate in the lean simulation exercise conducted by Definity Partners. I can't state to you enough how beneficial I feel this exercise is for our organization. There are a lot of people who talk about lean principles, but I have found few (outside of Toyota) that truly understand them and use them on a daily basis. This exercise uses a simple format to demonstrate key principles that everyone in the room can understand and apply to their work area. There is also positive collateral that comes from the team building exercise.![]()
Joe Eramo, President, AddisonMckee (The Manufacturer 2007 World-Class Mfg Winner)
I thought this class was one of the best classes I have ever attended. I saw a whole group of people stay very attentive all day. Everyone had input and was consumed by this class. I saw 20 different strong personalities unite as a team. The communication and team work was truly amazing. I was proud to be part of that group. This exercise opened up a lot of eyes to waste and how one piece flow can increase productivity greatly. As the class progressed, I was amazed how everyone was involved in coming up with ideas to improve flow. I mean everyone. Now we have to transfer this enthusiasm to the floor.![]()
